Here are the steps involved in taking apart a CD-ROM.  Since the process is the same for almost all optical drives I am not going to list out a tutorial step by step and bolt by bolt for this one.

CD-ROM drive before taking it apart:

Tray open and top casing bolts removed:

Top casing removed:

Circuit board from bottom getting ready to come out:

Circuit board removed with wires still attached:

CD balancer getting ready to be removed:

CD balancer removed:

Laser assembly removal:

Laser assembly removed:

Taking apart laser assembly:

All of the removed casing component:

If you follow these procedures you will have a fully disassembled CD/DVD/BD-ROM.
