Title: *Official* Updates thread
Post by: mitchell on December 17, 2009, 09:12:08 AM
All of the updates I do to functionality for the forum will be listed here.

1-25-10
Updated maximum characters per post to 50000.

I was getting a lot of spam so I decided to do a little overhaul.  Depending on how much spam I get in the future will tell me how much time I need to put in building up my forum with spam protection.  I didn't have anything to stop them before, but now I have two pieces for stopping spam and upped security.  This one right here: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1599 is a possibility for stopping spam if my 3 line verification doesn't work well.

Added icons for attachments that get uploaded.  Prior to this update there was a standard icon for all files that were uploaded and it was not dependent on the file type.

Added a smiley pack, it didn't quite work how I wanted it to so I am not going to link it here.

Installed hundreds of avatars for users to select from.  Here are the categories I have so far, Electric Guitar Avatars, animated women avatars, Code Avatars, Country Flagatars, game avatars, james bond avatars, Random Avatars, star wars avatars
If you like any on this page: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=search;type=4 I'll be sure to add em in.  Just reply and tell which ones.

Added double post auto merging.

Added login security for accounts.  5 failed attempts in 1 hour will result in a temporary account lock.
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2181

Added email encryption so email addresses cannot be taken directly from the html of the page.
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=495

Added 3 anti-spam verification questions for new registrations.
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1516

Added reason for editing to posts.

Well done.

We need to keep those spammers off the forum. Its gets maddd annoying when people are posting and trying to promote something that is irrelevant to the purpose of 3dmitchell forum.

Keep up the good work Mitch.
